WINTERBURN, a joint township with Flasby, in the Parish of Gargrave, eastern division of the wapentake of STAINCLIFFE and EWCROSS, West riding of the county of YORK, 7 miles (N. W. by N.) from Skipton. The population is returned with Flasby. There is a place of worship for Independents.

ESHTON, a township in the Parish of Gargrave, eastern division of the wapentake of STAINCLIFFE and EWCROSS, West riding of the county of YORK, 5.5 miles (N. W.) from Skipton, containing 69 inhabitants.

The townships of Winterburn and Eshton are not part of the original Parish of Kirkby Malhamdale, they lie in the ecclesiastical parish of Gargrave. They are included here because of their geographical location and close links with Malhamdale.
